Justin Urbach & Tatjana Vall

Justin and Tatjana are installation and digital artists based in Munich, Germany

Tatjana Vall is an artist and researcher based in Munich. Her work revolves around artificial ecosystems and paradoxical spheres of reality.

Justin Urbach is a multimedia artist based in Munich. His works are situated at the intersection of film, sound, and performance, addressing social themes, cultural identities, and myths in multi-layered narrative forms and installations.

ArtConnect asked the winning artists to share with us a glimpse into their creative life to get a sense of their personal inspiration and artistic process.

How did you get started as an artist?

Tatjana Vall got inspired through scientific and philosophical reading and scuba diving.

Justin Urbach got interested in film and photography. He started experimenting with the camera and thought about its wider meaning.

What are some of the central themes you pursue in your work?

We both pursue the multidimensional perceptions in our society. The translation within medial realities for us means empowerment of consumption.

What are you currently working on? / What’s coming up next for you?

Tatjana and Justin worked together in their last exhibitions, confronting transhumanist realities with a physicality that is both artificial and vulnerable. The project "You are going to take a bath in good luck" took place in a hybrid way, i.e. analog and digital, and both started to think more about realizing exhibitions in the times of a global pandemic and what this period brings to art in terms of the potential for renewal.

Anything else you want to add?

The exhibition "You are going to take a bath in good luck." was a duo exhibition of both artists realized in the Digital Art Space Munich.
