Since its founding in 1965, Cité internationale des arts offers numerous residency programmes, supporting artists from all nationalities and generations. Their programmes offer artists a period of research in the heart of Paris, support and immersion within a community of over 300 artists. Whether focused on visual arts, music, literature, film, design, architecture, performing arts, or curatorial practices, each programme is designed to support personal work while encouraging artistic experimentation.

AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions
In the Villa Vassilieff in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, AWARE is located where the artist Marie Vassilieff had her studio in the 1910s. In this highly symbolic space, AWARE has set up a research and documentation centre entirely dedicated to women artists and feminist art. Here, the association hosts various residencies for photographers, video artists, researchers, and curators.

Cannes Film Festival | Résidence du Festival
The Résidence du Festival, facilitated by Cannes Film Festival, welcomes a dozen young directors to work on their first or second feature-length fiction film project, in two four-and-a-half month sessions. The program is open to young filmmakers who have made one or several short films, and no more than one feature film.
Duration: 4.5 months
Rewards: Accommodation, free access to Paris cinemas, festival passes and even French lessons. As well as a project presentation at the CNC pavilion in Cannes with one director from each session awarded a €5,000 grant.

CENTQUATRE-PARIS | Experimentation, Support, Showcase & Urban Residencies
CENTQUATRE-PARIS is a diverse space for artistic residencies, production and presentation in the 19th arrondissement in Paris. It offers a variety of residency programs focused on the different stages and rhythms of project development.

Art Explora | Solo and Duo Residencies
Since 2021, Art Explora has been collaborating with Cité internationale des arts to host resident artists at their site in Montmartre. Art Explora offers both a solo residency for individual artists or a duo residency for an artist in collaboration with a researcher or scientist, or an artist collective. In both cases, the focus of the residency program is on artistic research and production.
Duration: 3 or 6 months
Rewards: €1,000 per month, production grants of up to €3,000, round-trip travel, accommodation, & workspace.
